DoD Cold War Recognition Certificate
Post-WW2 through Gulf War
Military and Civilian Honor
In accordance with section 1084 of the Fiscal Year 1998 National Defense Authorization
Act, the Secretary of Defense approved awarding Cold War Recognition Certificates
to all members of the armed forces and qualified federal government civilian
personnel who faithfully served the United States during the Cold War era, from
Sept. 2, 1945, to Dec. 26, 1991.
Requests will be accepted beginning April 5, 1999. A sample request letter
will be posted here on March 29th 1999.
Beginning on April 5, 1999 you may request a Cold War Recognition Certificate
if you qualify.
Who is eligible? All members of the armed forces and federal government civilian
personnel who faithfully served the United States during the Cold War era, Sept.
2, 1945, to Dec. 26, 1991.
Acceptable documents for proof of service. Military Service
Federal Government Civilian Personnel Service
Be prepared for April 5th. Obtain the required documents and be ready to mail
or fax them in support of your request.
